Doggie Day Care

WHAT IS DOGGIE DAY CARE?

Doggie Day Care is a day of off leash play where your dog mingles and socializes with other dogs in a pack all day under the watchful eyes of a staff member especially trained to monitor off leash play.  Some dogs find this is easy to do and they thoroughly enjoy it.  Other dogs might need extra time to make friends but with time and guidance, they also do well in Day Care.  Neutered adult dogs or  un-neutered puppies between the 4 to 6 month age with all their vaccinations can attend.  When the puppies grow from immature pups to semi-adults they must be neutered to continue in Day Care.

CAN MY DOG COME TO DAY CARE?

Finding out is as easy as one, two, three!

  1.  CALL 281-835-4445 so we can answer any questions you may have about Doggie Day Care and set up a time to tour the facility and see dogs in the play group. You will be asked provide proof of vaccinations and some basic information about you and your dog for general record keeping.  An information sheet will be provided to explain how Doggie Day Care Works at Fondren 5 Star Kennels.
  2. SET UP A DATE FOR TEMPERAMENT TESTING and introducing your dog into a day care play group.  For the safety of your dog and the ones already in Day Care, all dogs are evaluated prior to enrolling in Doggie Day Care.  It is necessary that you drop off your dog in the morning the day of testing and plan to pick up in the afternoon.  You will receive an Evaluation Report at the end of the day describing how the day went for your dog.
  3.  SCHEDULE YOUR PLAY DATES -determine how often and which day of the week you want then see if that day’s  group provide the best fit for your dog.

WHEN A DOG BECOMES A DANGER

At times, when a dog becomes a danger to the others in the play group, they are removed for a rest time or a  time out.  The dog in question is reunited with the pack after setting out a while to see if they are able to resume safe play.  If , however, they continue the detrimental behavior such as excessive barking, bullying, humping, sniping or other unacceptable behavior, the dog will be removed from the group for the rest of the day and may not be able to join a play group until they are re-evaluated.
