On a more serious note,

Please read the following letter from Fondren 5 Star Kennels:

March 15, 2012

Dear Valued Customer.

We published this message to alert you to a new viral threat to dogs that is spreading across the United States.  During the past year Fondren 5 Star Kennels has taken the steps necessary to learn about Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) and the best way to protect your dogs while they are at our kennel.

Figure 1: Affected dogs may not show symptoms of CIV.

Canine influenza (Dog Flu) is an important illness that poses an emerging threat to all dogs.

This virus is very contagious, with infected dogs shedding the virus before they are symptomatic.  The symptoms are very similar to Canine Cough, however, this illness can quickly progress to pneumonia.  Immunization for CIV is now widely available to and recommended by Veterinarians in our area.

Because of the risks involved with this virus, Fondren 5 star Kennels is adding the CIV vaccine to the list of required vaccinations for dogs and puppies effective June 1, 2012.  This vaccine will not only be for boarding dogs but for all dogs receiving any services at our facility.  The Bordetella or Kennel Cough vaccine, which has always been a required vaccine for overnight boarding, will now be required for all services that we provide for dogs.

Please talk to your Veterinarian or go to www.doginfluenza.com for information regarding the vaccination protocol for CIV. Feel free to contact Fondren 5 Star Kennels at the numbers below with your questions, concerns or comments.

Sincerely,

The Kennel Owners and Operators
