RESERVATIONS AND PROOF OF VACCINATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL GUESTS
DOGS: Proof of Rabies, Canine Distemper and Parvo virus vaccinations, as directed by your Veterinarian, plus a Bordetella within the last six months are required for lodging. For the health of our canine guests we are also requiring the Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) vaccination. We suggest you visit with your veterinarian about the health status of your pet and schedule the required vaccination series before your next visit to Fondren 5 Star Kennels. Every effort will be made to alert existing and new clients about timely vaccinations required for lodging.
OUR FAX IS 281-835-4446: When you are updating your vaccines at your Veterinarian’s office, please fax a copy to our office so your pet’s records will be updated at the same time.
CATS: Proof of Rabies and Feline Distemper vaccinations are required for all kittens and all adult cats. The FeLv (Feline Leukemia) vaccine is recommended but not required for lodging.
All pets must be free of parasites and we strongly recommend a monthly schedule of flea, tick and Heart-worm prevention.
CHECK IN REMINDERS
You are welcome to bring items from home for your pet, however we are not responsible for damaged or lost items. Please limit your personal items to a reasonable amount and realize that we will label items with your pet’s name and your last name for easy identification. We reserve the right to remove any items that are being misused or are deemed unsafe for your pet while boarding. We will launder your lightweight bedding and bed covers to assure fresh bedding for your pet and provide comfortable kennel bedding if you chose not to send your own. Fondren 5 Star Kennels offers a more relaxed check-in and check-out process by removing the “out before noon” and “in after noon” requirements. You know your schedule best so by asking you for your estimated drop off and pick up times, we can still plan ahead and accommodate your time as well.
EXPRESS Check-In
You may request an Express Check-In when you first contact us for a reservation. We will take the time at the time of your call to collect all the details for your pet’s stay and then we will designate on your pet’s service contract that you are expecting an Express Check-In at arrival. We do understand your concerns when you are on your way for travel plans or meetings and need to check-in your pet without delay. Even then, if there is a necessary change that is remembered after your check-in or if certain services are to be changed, you can always call or e-mail to update this information.
FOOD WHILE BOARDING
“Providing the Best Ingredients”
You are welcome to bring your pet’s own home fed pet food if you wish to avoid any dietary upsets by changing food. We will store and feed your pet’s own food at no extra charge. We ask that you bring food in a zip lock baggie for each meal for each pet and maybe a couple extra in case you need to leave your pet past the scheduled departure time. When you reserve lodging we will ask you for the name of the product you feed at home. If at any time your pet needs more of their same diet, we will purchase more for you and add it to the cost to your bill so we can continue to feed your pet’s own food.
Precise Diets are fed at no extra charge.
If you would prefer that we provide meals for your pet, we offer Precise Pet Food Products for our feline and canine guest at no additional charge. Precise diets are made here in Texas from quality, wholesome ingredients for the health of your pet. Precise is dedicated to providing the best nutrition for your pet and their diets contain no by-products and are wheat, corn and soy free. Precise diets provide taste and nutrition along with probiotics that are particularly healthy for a pet’s digestive system while coping with the normal stresses of being away from home.
If you are considering changing your pet’s home diet, we encourage you to try a bag of Precise from our retail area. If you are not satisfied with this product for any reason, we will replace it or refund 100% of your purchase price unconditionally.
Please mention any known food allergies your pet may have so that those foods can be avoided.
MEDICATIONS
Qualified Fondren 5 Star Staff are trained to administer any over the counter product or Veterinary prescription that your pet may need during their stay. The name of the product or medicine, the date, the dose and the number of times it is to be given each day will be written on a Medical Assurance Form for your pet. The instruction label on the product or medicine will be followed unless you provide additional written instructions. A Pill Pocket®, a piece of a hot dog or some sticky peanut butter or cream cheese can be used to help administer medicines. For finicky felines we may need to crush a tablet in a tasty bit of canned food or use a pill popper.
UN-NEUTERED OR INTACT PETS
Fondren 5 Star Kennels recommends the neutering of male pets and the spaying of female pets to reduce the unwanted pet population and for the health and well being of each individual pet. Intact pets are accepted for boarding with the knowledge that because they are capable of breeding they may at times require special handling or additional considerations. Staff are alerted to intact male dogs skin sensitivity and possible irritation from routine cleaning agents and provide protective and comfortable floor coverings for them. Female dogs in season must be provided with an a private, indoor enclosure, protected from the main kennel population and walked on leash for the comfort and safety off all our guests. Plan on additional handling charges for when these conditions must be met for intact pets.
ACCOMMODATIONS
All of our 5 Star accommodations are climate controlled and are designed for the comfort and safety of your pet. TV/Radios are standard for each guest Suite. All dogs are walked on leash to and from their accommodations or their exercise or service areas.Your dog will be able to see other dogs but cannot be leash free in the same area with another dog except through our Day Care Program or in a same family multi-pet reservation. Large, shaded, outdoor grassy exercise areas are provided for the three daily exercise outings that are included in the daily rate. Additional outdoor activities are available in play yards, as well as the two acre dog park through Activity Packages or our A la Cart Service Menu.

Kitty Condos are 2.5’ X 2.5’ X 3.5 private individual apartments, with a resting bench, an offset climbing shelf and a grated open cutout in the entry door. Each apartment can be combined with one or more to configure a larger duplex, triplex or quadraplex space. Kitty Playpens are 4’ X 4’ X 2’ open wire, multi level enclosures with hammocks and resting benches for the most curious felines. .

CATTERY
Feline guests can wander around and explore the Cattery’s Cat Nap Corner which includes all the spaces surrounding the Kitty Condos and Kitty Play Pens. Social and curious feline guests are offered the use of climbing trees with resting platforms, window ledges or the Sun Porch with sunny spots to perch during their individual daily exercise time (included in the daily board rate). Room is continuously cleaned as needed to keep the cattery odor free. Your feline will have access to scratching posts for nail care and catnip for the spirit
QUICK TIP:
Families with multi-species (cat and dog) households desiring to board their friendly and totally compatible pets together (knowing they would be happier and more relaxed together) should ask for a VIP SUITE.
Rabbits, Avian & Pocket Pets
Complete written instructions for the feeding of these unique guest is required plus their travel cage, bedding, supply of food and any medications.
