Pets love to come to Fondren 5 Star Kennels not only for the friendly staff, comfy accommodations and wholesome food (including the Pet Deli and gourmet treats) but also for the variety of fun activities that are offered. Whether your pet is the pick of the litter, a social butterfly, a star athlete, a couch potato or the shy and retiring type, all pets just feel better when they are able to engage in aerobic exercises and put their bodies in motion. Our Services Menu allows you to pick and choose the kind of activity and the frequency that suits your pet during their stay and makes for happy tails!
Extra Exercise Time
In addition to the three times outside included in the boarding fee, dogs can get another 15 minutes to run and sniff while off leash in a fenced grassy yard. Your single dog will be the only dog in the yard. If you have multiple dogs that are friendly together, they can be together in the yard for exercise.
Dog Walk
This on leash walk around the facilities can be used for Geriatric Dogs, females in season or for special extra care situations. This walk is shorter in distance and duration from the Nature Walk which is longer and more rigorous.
Playtime or Tummy Rub
These services can be held inside in a playroom or suite or outside in a play yard with the main purpose to engage the pet in a playful aerobic activity which makes for a happy boarder. For rainy days the indoor training room can be used and for the older or more sedate dog, a tummy rub and lots of hugs while watching a TV can make a dog happy too.
Nature Walk
Each dog on a Nature Walk is matched with one of our staff and wears a harness, a soft nylon slip collar and a kennel leash. There is always more than one dog/handler team on a Nature Walk and they follow a mile and a quarter path around the lake in Buffalo Run Park that takes 30 minutes to complete.
Dog Park
Each dog or family grouping of dogs is scheduled an exclusive time in our two+ acre dog park which means there will be no other dogs using the park during this time. Our kennel staff will walk them to the park and let them run, sniff and play off leash and stay with them the entire dog park session. The staff will take them back to their room when their turn is done.
Doggie Day Care PLUS
Social and friendly dogs can enjoy an all day or half day of cage free play with a play group while boarding. This service allows for Spayed and Neutered dogs only (puppies under 6-8 months may be allowed even though not yet neutered at the discretion of the Day Care Leader). Available space, temperament testing and signed release form are required as well as a boarding reservation in order to select Day Care PLUS.
Individual Obedience session
A scheduled lesson with a skilled trainer to brush up on obedience skill while boarding. A single diagnostic session or daily lessons can be arranged to fit your dog’s needs.
Medication Administration or Injection Administration
Qualified staff are available to dispense and administer both over the counter and prescription medicines when your pet needs scheduled medications. The charge is per number of times given. A Medication Assurance Form accompanies all scheduled medicines and is signed and dated by the administering staff.
Transport to Veterinary Clinic
If, at any time while at Fondren 5 Star Kennels your pet becomes ill and needs to be seen by a Veterinarian, we will call you or your contact person to notify and discuss the situation and then transport the pet to your Veterinarian’s Clinic during their office hours. If the Veterinary Clinic of your choice is closed or unavailable, we will go to Westbury Animal Hospital which is convenient to the kennel and continue to keep you apprised of your pet’s condition and treatment.
Pick up and Delivery
When you wish for your pet to be picked up and delivered to and from the kennel, please let us know at least 48 hours prior to arrival so transport arrangements can be made. We will need a specific time to meet you at your residence and any special instructions or directions for access to your home. This is a round trip charge with exceptions in pricing for trips over 35 miles.
